This project was all about choosing one major that is offered at UNE and doing in-depth research to try and determine if this major could be the right one for me. For this project, there were many sources that we had to research and pull from to create a final paper discussing the aspects of the major that was chosen. Additionally, we had to connect this major to a writing piece that we had read called “The Enriched Major” by Ernest Boyer. For research, we had to look over the description for the major, goals and learning outcomes for it, possible career paths for the major, the required classes and their descriptions, and even had to do an interview with a person in our chosen major, for most of us it was a professor that taught a class required for the major or an advisor. Then I had to write a paper at least 4 pages long discussing if I thought that the major that I chose to research was something that I would want to follow and if this specific major could be what Ernest Boyer would consider an enriched major. This project was important because almost everyone in the class was undeclared for a major and this project allowed me to choose which one I thought I would most likely think about declaring and do extensive research on it. This way, I could determine if this major would be right for me and if not, then I could definitely rule it out as a possibility. The major that I chose to research was the Business and Sustainability major, and through this project, I am happy to say that this major is one that I am strongly considering to be my declared major.
